XCOM ?!?!? WTF!

This is a video of the upcoming “XCOM” game. (picture me making air quotes with my fingers here)
I have no idea why the game is called XCOM. Tar Monsters would be a better title. There’s a very good chance that this will be a solid title. It’s being touted as a game created by the people that made Bioshock. But why the XCOM title? I could handle an XCOM game that isn’t an isometric strategy game, where you are in control of a global extra terrestrial defense program. (phew..)
But this game just appears to be a Bioshock clone on land.
Why not take the time to merge the classic XCOM game with a modern FPS. Keep the base building, resource management, and technology research. But when your team lands on crash site, FPS action. Sure that would be one hell of an undertaking… But do it correctly and you have the makings of what could be the greatest game of this generation. IMO. This video just looks like any other FPS.
